1 Bookings and business hours

Our standard business hours are Monday to Friday, 7 am to 4 pm, excluding WA public holidays. We offer an emergency contact service 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Attendance is subject to availability and safe access; response times are estimates unless expressly agreed.

We provide these terms before you accept a booking or quote. You accept them by confirming the booking or quote after receiving them. Specific written terms agreed for your job take precedence over inconsistent general terms, subject to law.

2 Labour rates and attendance

Charge per tradespersonIncluding GSTExcluding GST
Standard labour per hour$170.50$155.00
After hours labour per hour$255.75$232.50
After hours call out per attendance$170.50$155.00

During standard hours there is no call out fee. Once chargeable labour is authorised, a minimum of one hour applies, followed by each commenced 15 minutes. Additional time is calculated at one quarter of the hourly rate per increment. GST and final invoice totals are rounded to cents.

Emergency work and repairs outside standard hours attract a separate call out fee equal to one standard labour hour, plus labour at 1.5 times the standard rate. The call out fee does not include or credit labour. The one hour labour minimum and subsequent 15 minute increments apply.

Example: an after hours attendance with up to one hour of authorised labour costs $426.25 including GST ($387.50 excluding GST), before materials and other agreed charges. Applicable charges are confirmed before dispatch. Genuine warranty remedies for which we are responsible are not charged at these rates.

3 Free inspections and authorised investigations

Our free inspection is an initial visual assessment and quotation visit during standard hours, without obligation to proceed. It does not include dismantling, specialist testing, CCTV inspection, leak detection, clearing blockages, compliance reports or repair work. We explain and obtain your agreement to any investigative work and its price before starting it. After hours attendance is chargeable as set out in section 2.

For a return visit concerning an alleged fault in our work, we first assess whether it is a warranty matter. If a reasonable investigation establishes that the issue is outside our responsibility, or no fault is found, a minimum one hour service fee may apply only where we disclosed the fee and you agreed before the chargeable investigation. We provide our findings. An intermittent fault not reproduced at the visit is not automatically an invalid claim. No fee applies for a remedy we must provide free under law or our warranty.

4 Quotes, materials and variations

A fixed quote covers only the stated scope, allowances and inclusions. An estimate is an indicative budget, not a fixed price. We seek approval before exceeding it. Materials are charged at competitive market price (CMP), meaning our disclosed selling price informed by comparable market prices, unless included in a fixed quote. CMP is not supplier cost or a lowest price guarantee.

Materials, equipment hire, specialist services and compliance charges are included only where specified. We identify foreseeable mandatory compliance work in the quote. Unexpected access difficulties, concealed defects, unsuitable existing services or requested changes may require a variation. We obtain written approval, including by email or text, to the scope and price or pricing method before proceeding, and comply with any additional statutory variation requirements.

If an immediate safety risk arises, we stop work and seek instructions. Emergency authority is limited to making the site safe within an agreed scope and spending limit. If instructions cannot be obtained, we take only reasonably necessary, legally permitted action, notify you promptly and explain any lawful charge.

5 Payment and overdue accounts

Unless agreed otherwise in writing before work starts, payment is due on completion and presentation of the invoice. Approved credit accounts have seven calendar days from invoice. Deposits and progress payments require a separate agreement compliant with applicable WA requirements, including deposit limits.

Tell us promptly if an invoice is disputed and explain the issue. Undisputed amounts remain payable. We investigate genuine disputes and discuss reasonable payment arrangements where appropriate, without restricting your legal rights.

On an undisputed amount remaining unpaid 14 calendar days after its due date, we may give a written reminder allowing a further seven calendar days to pay. If still unpaid after that notice, simple interest may accrue prospectively at 10% per annum, calculated daily as the overdue principal multiplied by 0.10 divided by 365. Interest is not compounded or backdated and is not charged on interest or recovery fees. On $1,000, 30 days of interest is approximately $8.22.

After reasonable notice, we may recover reasonable, necessary external debt recovery costs to the extent legally recoverable. No automatic percentage fees or duplicate costs apply. Mandatory statutory interest rules take precedence.

6 Cancellations and access

Please give at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. For shorter notice, we may charge a cancellation fee up to $100 including GST, limited to our reasonable net loss after taking steps to reduce it. No fee applies if there is no loss, the cancellation is caused by our breach, or you exercise a statutory cancellation right.

If you cancel after dispatch or we attend and cannot proceed because access is unavailable or the site is not ready, an agreed attendance charge up to one standard labour hour ($170.50 including GST) may apply, limited to reasonable net loss. This replaces the $100 cancellation fee for the same event. Any after hours dispatch charge must be disclosed and agreed beforehand and is not duplicated by another attendance charge.

You remain responsible for authorised work already completed and reasonable, unavoidable costs of specially ordered goods that cannot be returned or reused. We deduct supplier credits, refunds and avoided costs, provide an explanation, and refund any excess payment. We remain responsible for goods in our care as required by law and for loss or damage caused by our failure to exercise due care and skill.

You must arrange permission for the work and safe, reasonable access to the affected areas, isolation points and services, and tell us about known hazards. We advise if work must pause because access or conditions are unsafe.

7 Six year workmanship warranty

Plum Craft Pty Ltd warrants its installation and repair workmanship for six years from completion of the relevant work. We will inspect a reported workmanship defect appearing within that period and rectify a valid defect at no charge for the labour and materials reasonably required for that rectification. This is additional to your Australian Consumer Law rights and does not set an absolute time limit on statutory rights. WA Building and Energy guidance on licensed plumbers is linked in section 13.

Report a suspected defect promptly after discovering it, using the phone, email or postal address at the top of these terms. Provide your name, job address, invoice or other evidence identifying the work, a description and, where safe, photographs. We may request written details to assist assessment, but there is no 48 hour claim deadline and concealed defects are not excluded merely because they were discovered later.

Allow reasonable access, ordinarily within seven working days of notification or another agreed time. We aim to rectify a confirmed workmanship defect within 14 working days after inspection and confirmation, subject to urgency, access and parts availability. We agree a reasonable alternative where necessary. Urgent safety risks and active leaks receive priority; these timeframes do not postpone a remedy required sooner by law or limit remedies for a major failure.

Where reasonably practicable, allow us to inspect and remedy a non-major problem before engaging another contractor. This does not prevent urgent action to protect people or property, or your rights where we fail to remedy a problem within a reasonable time. We meet reasonable claim expenses for valid workmanship claims and any other expenses we must meet by law. Send receipts and details to the email or postal address at the top of these terms; discuss proposed costs with us first where practicable.

Our voluntary warranty excludes only faults or damage caused by misuse, inadequate maintenance, ordinary wear, external events or third party alterations, to the extent those matters caused the problem. Unrelated third party work does not void the whole warranty. We remain responsible for our own faulty work and all non-excludable obligations.

8 Products and customer supplied items

Manufacturer warranties apply according to their terms and are additional to consumer guarantees. If we supplied a product, contact us about a defect. We assess and provide any remedy owed by law, including necessary labour where required. A manufacturer fault or expired manufacturer warranty does not automatically make you liable for inspection, removal or reinstallation. Work outside our legal or warranty responsibility is chargeable only after disclosure and agreement.

We do not provide a product warranty for goods supplied by you. Their seller or manufacturer is responsible for inherent product defects, subject to applicable law. Our workmanship warranty still applies to our installation, and we remain responsible for damage or failures we cause. Additional work arising solely from an unsuitable or defective customer supplied item is quoted separately.

Customer supplied products must be suitable and lawful for the proposed installation. Where WaterMark certification is required, the product must have valid certification and appropriate identification, verifiable against the WaterMark Product Database. Required water efficiency registration, lead free requirements and other applicable approvals must also be met. We will not install a product that lacks required certification or otherwise cannot be installed lawfully. Provide model and certification details before booking. Official schedules determine which product categories require WaterMark.

Bidet douche seats, bidet attachments and toilets with integral bidet sprays must have the required WaterMark certification. We verify the model and its certified backflow protection before installation. An appropriate high hazard backflow device, including a reduced pressure zone device (RPZ or RPZD) where required, must protect the drinking water supply. Some certified seats incorporate an approved air gap or other suitable integral protection and do not require a separate RPZ. WaterMark certification alone does not establish that separate backflow protection is unnecessary. Selection depends on the product, hazard and installation, under the applicable Plumbing Code of Australia and AS/NZS 3500.1.

We will not install a bidet product without the required certification and backflow protection. Any necessary RPZ, associated pipework, drainage, commissioning, testing and required ongoing servicing are additional to a product only or basic installation price unless expressly included. We explain the requirements and obtain approval for additional costs before proceeding. See the WA Government bidet guidance in section 13.

9 Blockages and existing systems

Drain clearing does not guarantee that a blockage will not recur. Roots, foreign objects, misuse, ground movement, damaged pipes and pre-existing drainage defects may cause repeat problems requiring further investigation or repairs. Additional work requires approval. We remain responsible for defective workmanship and performing the agreed service with due care and skill.

Unless included in the agreed scope, we do not repair pre-existing defects or replace unrelated services. If discovered, these are discussed and quoted as variations. We remain responsible where our work causes or aggravates a defect. Concealed conditions may limit what a visual inspection can identify.

10 Hot water installation and temperature control

All work must comply with the WA requirements applicable when it is performed, including the adopted Plumbing Code of Australia and AS/NZS 3500.4, as modified for WA, and applicable gas and manufacturer requirements. Like for like replacement does not remove the need for required safety or compliance upgrades.

For ordinary domestic installations, our standard arrangement supplies baths, showers and bathroom basins at no more than 50°C through compliant temperature control. Lower limits apply in specified higher risk settings. WA provides some exceptions for basins in existing installations when a water heater is replaced; any alternative arrangement must be lawful, assessed for the particular property and expressly agreed. Existing required temperature controls must be maintained.

Where permitted, a kitchen sink or laundry trough may receive hotter water, potentially around 60–65°C if the heater and system are suitable. Temperature is not guaranteed. Hotter water creates a scald risk and remains subject to applicable requirements, including those for special heat sources.

If all outlets currently share one hot water line, installing temperature control at the heater may reduce the temperature throughout the house. Keeping hotter water at the kitchen or laundry while controlling bathroom temperatures may require a separate line taken before the tempering valve, or another compliant design. If a suitable separate line does not already exist, extra pipework, access and reinstatement can add substantially to cost. We quote this separately for approval before proceeding.

New heaters, valves and temperature controls can change available flow, pressure and temperature compared with the old system. Performance depends on the heater, water supply, pipe sizing, fixtures and demand. We explain foreseeable changes and commission our work to applicable requirements. Customer acceptance of a lawful design does not waive rights concerning defective work, unsafe performance or misleading advice.

Quotes identify the heater, installation allowance and included valves, pipework, electrical or gas work, removal and reinstatement. Necessary exclusions and foreseeable compliance costs are disclosed. Unknown faults or upgrades are handled under the variation process in section 4. Required compliance documents are supplied within the applicable statutory timeframes.

11 Gas standards, testing and existing defects

Gasfitting work must comply with WA gas legislation and the applicable AS/NZS 5601 gas installation standards, including AS/NZS 5601.1 for general installations. For work on an existing gas installation, we conduct the applicable gas tightness tests before work starts and after work, as required for the installation and work performed. These checks form part of the gas job; a quotation visit alone is not gasfitting work. Routine testing required for the quoted scope is included unless separately identified and agreed before booking.

WA requires gas installations to be gas tight, with no allowable leakage. If testing identifies an existing leak, unsafe condition or defect preventing safe, compliant work, we make the installation safe and pause the quoted work. As a condition of proceeding with our quoted work, the relevant existing defects must first be rectified or lawfully isolated. We do not commission or restore supply to an unsafe or leaking installation.

Existing defects may be concealed and cannot always be identified or costed before testing. Unless already included in the quote, locating and repairing them is additional work. We explain the findings and obtain approval for the repair scope and price or pricing method under section 4. If you decline the repairs, the affected quoted work cannot proceed and the affected installation remains safely isolated as required. Only authorised work and lawful, agreed make safe costs are payable. We perform required final tests before commissioning. See the WA gas testing guidance in section 13.

12 Australian Consumer Law and general terms

The following prescribed statement applies to our warranty for the supply of goods and services:

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled:

  • to cancel your service contract with us; and
  • to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.

You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods. If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion.

You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.

Ownership of supplied goods remains with us until paid, to the extent legally effective. This does not authorise entry to your property or removal of installed fixtures without consent or other lawful authority. Risk and responsibility for loss or damage remain subject to law.

Contact us first about a concern so we can seek a practical resolution. You may still contact Consumer Protection, Building and Energy, a tribunal or a court, as appropriate. WA law governs these terms, subject to applicable mandatory law. An invalid provision is ineffective only to the extent of its invalidity; statutory rights remain unaffected.

We may update these terms for future bookings. The version accepted for your job continues to apply unless a change is agreed. A website update alone does not alter an existing contract. Any mandatory home building contract requirements or construction payment rights take precedence where applicable.
